Sustainability
Leone Alato is further investing in biodiversity and sustainability, enhancing research, environmental respect, and the reduction of emissions to the point of eliminating them entirely.
On the biodiversity front, it has launched a pilot project on three of its farms: in Portonovo (Municipality of Medicina, Bologna), in Spazzate (Conselice, Ravenna), and in Costa Arente (Grezzana, Verona). By combining traditional farming techniques with innovative technologies like sensors, the project has recorded a significant increase in pollinators within the monitored farmland, as well as in birds and wildlife. In the medium to long term, the continuous monitoring of biodiversity will be extended to another twenty farms, with the aim of defining an even broader and more systematic regeneration strategy.
Biodiversity
Another project, developed in the Ca' Corniani area (over 1,600 hectares), focuses on adopting a reference model to assess the fundamental role of agriculture in safeguarding biodiversity and ecosystem services. Through scientific monitoring of protected and endangered species — according to European Directives and the IUCN Red List (International Union for Conservation of Nature) —, training agricultural staff on the importance of biodiversity, and implementing specific action plans in the area, the Group aims to strengthen its mission in nature conservation, confirming and enhancing the results achieved in recent years, with a continuous increase in wildlife on its estates.
Generali Act4Green
With Generali Country Italia, the Generali Act4Green project was launched. It is an initiative aimed at accelerating the decarbonization process by planting one million trees and creating new forests that will cover 1,000 hectares of land across five farms of the Leone Alato Group, located in Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Emilia-Romagna, Lazio, and Calabria. In 2028, carbon credits will begin to be produced, and these will be certified throughout the entire supply chain by an independent international organization.
Renewable Energy
Leone Alato operates eight rooftop photovoltaic plants across various Group companies, with a total installed capacity of 4.25 MWh, connected to a series of charging stations for the electrification of its vehicle fleet. Additionally, it has two biogas plants, each with a capacity of 1 MW, and five future agro-voltaic plants for an additional capacity of 5 MWp.
Thanks to these activities, over the years, the Group's companies have obtained various certifications that attest to their seriousness, commitment, and social responsibility towards the regions and communities in which they operate. These are areas that must be preserved and enhanced for future generations.
