Our commitment to sustainability
A history of sustainable development
Over the years, sustainability has taken on a key role for the Group and its relevant stakeholders.
Genagricola1851 has considered the environmental, social, and economic impact of its actions since the reclamation of Ca' Corniani in 1851.
Looking to the future, the ambition is to become a fully sustainable supply chain, capable of transforming the raw materials it produces into products that, once placed on the market, highlight the value of their regions of origin, thereby generating a positive impact on the planet.
Our contribution to the 2030 Agenda
We promote the goals of the 2030 Agenda for sustainable development. Every decision we make is guided by respect for people and the planet.
Clean Energy
Plan conversion and the use of renewable fuels (biomass and photovoltaic)
Becoming an agricultural player in the energy sector.
• 2 bio-gas plants
• 4.25 MWh of photovoltaic energy
• Electrification of the vehicle fleet with charging stations (60% of our production units and replacement of 50% of the vehicle fleet)
Climate action
Adopt measures to combat climate change and its consequences.
- CARBON FARMING
- FORESTRY (Generali Act4Green Project: 1 million trees)
Biodiversity
Beekeeping and land protection
Protect pollinators, which play a key role in biodiversity, and preserve habitats through regenerative practices. Additionally, a sustainable beekeeping project for honey production has been launched.
- BEEKEEPING
- MONITORING ON VARIOUS ESTATES
- REGENERATIVE AGRICULTURE
Respect for workers
Workplace safety and training.
We protect the health of our employees by providing training and innovative tools, such as an app designed for staff working long hours in isolation in remote areas. The app detects any health irregularities in the worker, ensuring prompt intervention in case of illness or accident.
- Workplace safety
- Inclusion
- Training
Sustainable cities and communities
Safety, inclusivity, and gender equality
We encourage the sharing and openness of our company's heritage. Ca’ Corniani, the "mother" company, now exemplifies a healthy approach to business and agriculture, promoting sustainable wine tourism (30 km of cycling paths, 3 monumental artworks by Alberto Garutti, museum spaces). Dozens of young people from social cooperatives are engaged in work on our estates
Zero hunger, guaranteeing food
Guaranteeing healthy and genuine food and sustainable food production systems.
Aeroponic cultivation allows for new spaces to grow crops off the ground, saving land and reducing transportation, ensuring faster and cleaner growth.
The land generates wealth, which we reinvest in the land. It's Farm to Fork: the transformation of raw materials into finished products for the consumer.
- Guarantee of healthy and quality food
- Sustainable food production systems
Responsible consumption
Better use of resources, reduction of chemical inputs, and water footprint
Reducing environmental impact through technological innovation (Farmdroid) and precision agriculture tools (sensors and drones)
• Reduced consumption (Agriculture 4.0 – AgriTech)
